This is a custom hand made reclaimed lumber fireplace mantle, each mantle is specificly made for your fireplace. The mantles are unfinished, so it can be easily matched to your decor. These authentic hand hewn barn beams are salvaged from antique structures such as barns and cabins dating back to the 1800’s. The material is a mix of hardwoods, (primarily white oak), which the original builder would have harvested from the original forest adjacent to the building site. The beams are usually square, hand hewn on four sides and contain the original mortise and tenon holes and pegs. The beams will have an existing gray patina which can be lightly sanded to reveal a rich brown patina just below the surface. All materials and labor are included.
